Peridot forms deep within the Earth’s mantle, approximately 20–55 miles below the surface, and is brought to light through volcanic activity—making it one of the few gemstones formed far beneath the Earth’s crust. In rare cases, peridot has also been found in meteorites, linking it to both Earth and outer space.
